Monitoring probe
About our probes
If you see this User-Agent in your server logs, it's one of our monitoring probes. It is benign, low-volume traffic whose only purpose is to measure a page's availability:
EnService/1.0 (+https://www.en-service.fr/probe/)
Why you are seeing this traffic
Two possible reasons, depending on the service.
A customer is monitoring their service
An En Service customer added this address to track the availability of their own service and be alerted if it goes down.
French services status board
We measure the availability of well-known online services for our public « is it down? » board. In that case the service did not opt in: it is an editorial, informational measurement.
What it does, and does not
An availability probe, nothing more.
A single, targeted request
It requests only the configured URL, with GET or HEAD. It does not crawl your site, follow links, or submit any form.
No data collected
We only read the HTTP status code, the response time and, depending on the check, the certificate or DNS record. Never the content of your pages or databases.
Identifiable
All our probes send the same User-Agent, with a link to this page. You can allow or filter it with full context.
Low frequency, several vantage points. A page is only tested periodically (on the order of one to a few minutes), with a single request: the added load is negligible.
Our probes measure from several regions: ParisStrasbourgMontrealSingaporeSydney
Prefer not to be probed?
You run a service we measure and would rather not receive these requests (or not appear on our status board)? Contact us and we will remove the address.
